Sheffield sustainable transport efforts recognised

Sheffield city council has been recognised for its work on supporting sustainable forms of transport.The local governmental body was given the Travelwise European Mobility Week Award for Sheffield's efforts during European Mobility Week.It will now go on to compete against other cities in Europe that have shown a similar commitment to sustainable transport.Cabinet member for sustainable development and transport at Sheffield Ian Auckland commented: "We want to ensure that people across the city have real travel choice. European Mobility Week is a fantastic way of making people think about the way they travel."He added that it was excellent news that the council had been given the award, which was open to all local authorities in the UK that took part in European Mobility Week this year.In recent news, Sheffield's adult social care services were given the top three star rating by the Commission for Social Care Inspection.Sheffield now has World Health Organisation Healthy City status.
