Leeds Arena reality gets closer

Leeds Arena has moved another step closer to being a reality after the council agreed to buy the Leeds Metropolitan University's Brunswick complex.A total of £6 million has been spent on the building which covers 2.91 acres and is part of the Clay Pit Lane site that has been chosen for the new arena.Executive board member with responsibility for the arena Andrew Carter said that the purchase was a "significant development" and he was pleased that the project was progressing so soon after it was announced that the council will be responsible for the construction."I am now really looking forward to getting on with the design and development of the project and turning our ambitions into a reality," he commented.The council expects the new arena, once completed, will provide an additional £28 million to the local economy.In recent news, Leeds council announced that the Aire Valley development, which will create up to 27,000 jobs and one million sq metres of employment floorspace, is close to completion.
