Bioenergy Mission to Canada

27/09/2010 09:00 - 01/10/2010 18:00

Venue : Sheraton Wall Centre, Vancouver, Canada

The High Commission of Canada in London is inviting UK organisations with technology that may be of interest to Canadian bioenergy companies to participate in the mission to explore opportunities with bioenergy organisations in Canada. We'd also like to showcase Canadian technology to UK companies and high-light Canada as destination for biofuel investment / sourcing biofuels.

This will be achieved by a week-long series of activities which will include two science and technology focussed workshops (on thermal and chemical conversion of biomass), visits to the University of British Columbia and various Canadian companies (including Nexterra and Lignol) and attendance at the CanBio (Canada's Bioenergy Association) annual conference.

You will likely have the opportunity to meet all the major Canadian bioenergy players during this mission. The estimated cost for UK participants is around £2-3k, which would include airfare, hotel and subsistence, and attendees are expected to cover this, although you should contact your local UKTI office to see if they would be able to offer a grant towards these expenses. The workshops and visits organised by us will be free to all attendees, and the first 40 EU participants in the mission will have their fee for the CanBio event (around C$500) reimbursed by the Government of Canada.
