Disabled People’s Electronic Village Hall

Introduction

Thanks to Yorkshire Forward’s support, DP-EPV gets disabled and disadvantaged people back to work and provides a competitive IT service to the third sector.

Summary

The Disabled People's Electronic Village Hall (DP-EVH) improves the self-esteem, lifestyles and prospects of disabled and disadvantaged people by providing them with top-quality training in ICT and related careers. A trading arm of DP-EVH called Electroville also provides employment for disabled people through the supply of high-quality ICT services to voluntary organisations.

DP-EVH is a charity and a company limited by guarantee, and is supported by Yorkshire Forward through Social Enterprise Yorkshire and the Humber.. It is run by disabled people for disabled people, with 3 board members co-opted for their specialist expertise in business. Both DP-EVH and Electroville compete for contracts, whether from public-sector agencies or voluntary sector customers.

The organization currently has 3 arms:

• Learning for Disabled People: This IT education service gets people from incapacity benefit back to work.
• e-learning: DP-EVH is a learndirect provider and can deliver IT training to local communities and Electroville’s voluntary-sector clients.
• ICT services including technical support, management strategy training, accessibility training and services, document imaging & management, web design and broadband.
